FAQs

  • At The Singing Lotus, you will find a peaceful, dimly lit oasis awaiting you. Upon arrival, you will check in and then remove jackets/shoes (please wear socks if possible) and place them into a cubby. You will then lie down on your own comfortable cot sized mat (or bring your own yoga mat to lie on top of our 4” mat, if preferred). Each session is kept to a small group - having only 12 or less participants. Once the session begins, all you need to do is close your eyes, relax and enjoy as the sounds and vibrations wash over you.

  • A sound bath offers numerous possible benefits including: deep relaxation and restoration, stress reduction, improved mental clarity and focus, improved sleep quality, anxiety relief, emotional release, deepened meditation/ spiritual insight, greater connection to self, and some have even reported experiencing pain relief.

It is also believed that sound baths may help to realign and balance the body’s energy centers (chakras) through the sound waves and frequencies emitted thus restoring our bodies to a natural state of balance/homeostatis.

  • While it’s not necessary to bring anything with you for your sound bath session (we provide comfy memory foam mats, blankets and a small pillow), we certainly invite you to bring whatever might make the experience more enjoyable for you. Below are some options:

    • A pillow so you are extra comfortable (we do have small pillows if you are unable to bring your own).

    • Your own blanket to lie on, cover with, or both (we do provide blankets but you can always bring your own favorite blanket if preferred).

    • A yoga mat - again, you don’t need one as we do provide a comfortable 4” memory foam mat for each guest to lie on, but if you’d feel more comfortable bringing your own mat to lie on then please feel free. You can even place your yoga mat on top of the memory foam mat for extra comfort.

    • Eye pillow/mask - while not required, an eye mask can aid in relaxation and encourage a deeper inner journey.

    • Socks (and wear comfy clothes)

    • Water

  • Since we are not medical professionals, we can not offer any medical advice. We strongly suggest that you consult with your medical professional regarding any concerns you may have and to make sure a sound bath is safe for you. We would especially suggest those who are (or might be) pregnant, have epilepsy, have a heart condition or pacemaker, have metal pins/implants or a DBS device, to please check with your medical professional prior to attending.

Additionally, please email us at thesinginglotusstudio@gmail.com and let us know of any special needs or concerns you may have prior to your arrival and we will do our absolute best to accommodate you.

  • Each session will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. We do ask that you please plan to arrive to your session time at least 10 minutes early. This will give you time to check in, remove your shoes, get comfortable and begin to decompress as we await for the session to begin. The studio will be open 15 minutes prior to each session. Please note that sessions will start on time and late arrivals can be highly disruptive to the entire group. We, therefore, can’t stress enough the importance of early arrival. :)

  • Our goal at The Singing Lotus is to keep our sound baths small in size. Each session will therefore only have 12 or fewer participants.

  • Some participants may fall asleep which is the ultimate relaxation and not a problem. We do ask those who are known to snore to please bring a pillow or any other tools you may have to lessen snoring (please note you may be gently woken if snoring becomes disruptive). Snoring is a natural process of deep relaxation so there is never any judgement here, we just don’t want it to disturb others. :)

  • If you need (or just prefer) an alternative to our floor mats, we do have two regular chairs with an ottoman that you can sit in during the sound bath. We also have two zero gravity reclining chairs if you prefer to recline. Since these options are limited, please reach out to us at thesinginglotusstudio@gmail prior to your session to let us know your chair requests. We will be happy to accommodate you!

  • Yes, please email us at thesinginglotusstudio@gmail.com with more information regarding your needs and when you are interested in scheduling and we can provide a quote.

  • YES! We do offer gift cards if you want to offer the perfect gift of relaxation to friends, family, co-workers, teachers, etc. Please email us at thesinginglotusstudio@gmail.com for additional information.

  • Rescheduling is allowed up until 24 hours prior to your scheduled session. If you are sick and it is within the 24 hour window, please reach out to us to see how we can accommodate you as we do not want you feeling pressured to come when you are not feeling well.

  • While most participants will experience pure relaxation and restoration, sound baths can affect people in different ways and can bring up a range of emotions. Participants often enter a meditative/dream-like state during the session and during that state, different emotions and feelings can be brought to the surface. We feel this is part of a natural purging and emotional healing process if/when this happens but, of course, you are always in charge and have every freedom to take a break or leave the experience if you are ever uncomfortable.

Also, since you will be lying somewhat close to other attendees, we do ask that you please be mindful of any heavy perfumes/colognes so it is not distracting to others who may have sensitivities.

Last, if you are sick or dealing with a persistent cough, please reach out to reschedule your session. We’re happy to work with you.

Last, at times, we may incorporate essential oils, palo santo, or sage just before or during a sound bath session. Please reach out to us prior to the session if you have any sensitivities or aversions that we should be aware of.
